Engineers and Integrity

Dr. Gordon Stubley presents two tales of ethics in engineering — one great failure and one great success. The failure is the explosion of the space shuttle Challenger, in which a key engineer was asked to ”take off your engineering hat and put on your management hat.” The success is the Citicorp skyscraper in New York, in which case engineer William J. LeMessurier was confronted with a design weakness in the tower’s structure. Engineers and Integrity is available from Amazon or directly from Ockham’s Razor.
